16 - PRECAUTIONS

The Mark II (Ha-109) fuel consumption is 15 - 20 litres more than that of the Mark I.
18 - EMERGENCY SYSTEMS
1. Fuel gauge(s).
.............A. The quantity of fuel and flying time remaining when the fuel gauge red warning light shows are as

....................Fuselage tank: .............Approximately 26 litres (11 min.)
....................Starboard wing tank: ..............." .........12 ...".. (5 min.)

.............A. For changing over (from one tank to another): Set the fuel gauge cock to the tank in use.
................ Change over as soon as the red light shows.
2. If the fuel pressure falls below (?...permissible) a red light will come on .....(remainder illegible - T.N.)
....Generally, when the red light shows, it indicates:
...................(a) that there is no fuel in the tank.
...................(b) that the fuel pump is faulty.
...................(c) engine failure.
...................(d) that the fuel pressure warning light is itself faulty (and needs adjustment).
...................(d) Vapour lock.
3. Emergency lowering of the undercarriage.
...................(a) Safety lock to "Down".
...................(b) Hydraulic cock to "Down".
...................(c) If the hand pump doesn't function, execute a sudden side-slip, or a side slip, and lock the safety
...................... device.
4. Flaps (in case of an emergency):
...................(a) Hydraulic cock "Down" (also hand lever).
...................(b) Operate the emergency lowering handle for the flaps.
