7. Repeat operations 1, 2, and 3.

8. Set the safety catch to "Fire".

9. Grasp the trigger and press the button.

10. After cease firing, switch the apparatus used in firing to cut-off and be sure to lock the safety device.

 

Mark I MACHINE GUN

1. Operate the loading handle twice.

2. Release the safety catch.

3. Grasp the trigger located in front of the throttle.

4. After cease firing, set the control mechanism to "cut-off".

 

Mark II MACHINE GUN

1. Operate the loading handle twice.

2. Switch on the firing switch located on the distributing panel.

3. Press the push button on top of the throttle to first and second steps (pressures?).

4. After cease firing, set the control mechanism to "cut-off".

 

Precautions on operating the MG MA

1. When ceasing fire, be sure to close the firing switch on the distributing panel.

2. After loading, the switch cock must be set to neutral.

3. When ceasing firing the automatic cannon, reset the catch and uncock.

4. The cannon is generally loaded first (on mark I aircraft the cannon cannot be fired by itself).

5. When firing the RPM must be in excess of 1000.

6. Oil pressure should be between 25 and 30 kg/cm2.

7. Voltage should be more than 24.

 

 

21 -TRAINING FLYING

 

1. It is absolutely necessary to know the instructions and plans pertinent to flight.

2. Be sure you understand the functionning and construction of your aircraft, and see that it is serviceable.

3. Thoroughly acquaint yourself with the ground tests and handling procedure generally.

4. Operate the aircraft without the (following) standard equipment:

....//(a) Machine gun(s), cannon and ammunition.
