7 - CLIMBING

 

1. Boost reading: +75 mm. Mark I: +40 mm (max.)

2. RPM: 2450. Mark I: 2300.

3. Speed: 200 - 300 km/hr.

4. Retract the undercarriage (be careful when and at what height you do this).

..........(a) Set the safety lock to "Up".

..........(b) Set the oil pressure (hydraulic pressure) changing cock to "Up".

..........(c) The indicator light will be red untill the oil (hydraulic) pressure reaches 60).

..........(d) After the red light has been on for 10 to 20 seconds, put the change cock over to "Neutral".

5. At speed above 250, close the cowling gills. At this speed, you must watch the cylinder temperature (since the drop will be great).

6. Efficient climbing speed: 260 km/h.

7. Watch the various instruments.

 

 

8 - LEVEL FLYING

 

1. Boost pressure: -200 to -300 mm.

2. RPM: 1900 - 2000.

3. Adjust the boost pressure as required for cruising conditions.

4. Set the cowling gills and the oil cooler shutter.

5. Set the tabs.

6. The exhaust temperature should be 700 - 730° (maximum)

7. Boost reading (for take-off should be ) + 200 mm (on the Mark I). Mark II +150 mm.

8. RPM: 2400. Maximum 2600.

9. Speed: 160 - 180 (kilometres/hour).

 

 

9 - DESCENDING

 

1. The most suitable speed is 400 km/hr. It is permissible to make a flat turn at this speed.

2. Set the propeller to maximum pitch.

3. Close the altitude lever. (Supercharger control?)

4. Set the cowling gills.

5. Note the cylinder temperature.

6. It is advisable not to close the throttle altogether when descending.
